This free one hour training will present the LDS Church's response to child abuse allegations and how Law Enforcement and Health & Welfare can work with them.
LDS (“Mormon”) clergy sometimes learn about child abuse allegations from members of their congregation. The LDS Church provides a 1-800 telephone number—a “Helpline”—for the clergy so they can get directions and advice on what to do with the allegations. Particularly, the Helpline assists clergy in reporting the abuse to authorities, helping victims, and preventing further abuse. In this presentation, attorneys for the LDS Church will explain the Helpline process, the LDS Church’s fight against child abuse, and how the Church hopes to partner with local authorities to better protect children.
This training will assist the Family Crisis Center in meeting the Accreditation related to the MDT Accreditation Standard Section G and assist with the Cultural Competency and Diversity Standard Section C
